Alessandro Zaccone obtained pole position for both MotoE Dutch GP races this Friday, with a new record lap in Assen. It is the second consecutive round in which the Italian achieved the best starting position.
In Q1, ten riders competed for the last two spots in Q2, joining the eight riders who qualified directly based on the combined classification of the two practices.
After the first flying laps, Kevin Zannoni (Openbank Aspar) was in the lead, then lost it to Óscar Gutiérrez (Axxis-MSi) before reclaiming it with his second lap. The Italian remained unbeaten until the end, but Gutiérrez lost second place to Lukas Tulovic (Dynavolt Intact GP) and missed Q2 by just 0.056s.
Eric Granado (LCR E-Team) led the first minutes of Q2, until being overtaken by Jordi Torres (Openbank Aspar), who had set a new circuit record in the second practice. Then, Zannoni took the top spot.
However, the Italian held the best time for less than a second: right after, Héctor Garzó (Dynavolt Intact GP) surpassed him, and he, in turn, was beaten by Zaccone.
The Tech3 E-Racing rider set a new record lap of 1m39.444s that no one could beat until the end, thus securing pole position. Garzó was second at 0.338s, with Zannoni in third to complete the front row. Torres will start fourth, while further down the grid, championship leader Mattia Casadei (LCR E-Team) will start ninth.
