Rockies’ rising star Hunter Goodman draws comparisons to former MVP Josh Donaldson with his sensational season and powerful swing

Goodman’s Stellar Performance Captivates MLB Analysts

Hunter Goodman, the breakout star of the Colorado Rockies, is making waves in Major League Baseball this season. His impressive performance has not only earned him a spot in the All-Star Game but also sparked comparisons to former MVP Josh Donaldson.

A Remarkable Season

In his first full season in the big leagues, Goodman has proven to be a force at the plate. With a batting line of .277/.325/.517, he has launched 17 home runs and driven in 52 runs. This 25-year-old catcher, who was drafted in the fourth round, has certainly made a name for himself.

While many young players experience a dip in form during the demanding grind of a 162-game season, Goodman has risen to the occasion. After the All-Star break, he has elevated his game even further, posting a remarkable .290/.331/.587 slash line with 13 home runs and 35 RBIs over just 45 games. In doing so, he has set the Rockies’ record for most home runs in a single season by a catcher, solidifying his status as a key player for the team.

Drawing Comparisons to Josh Donaldson

Goodman’s breakout has caught the attention of baseball analysts, including Mark DeRosa and Sean Casey from MLB Network. As they analyzed Goodman’s swing, they drew a striking parallel to Josh Donaldson, the 2015 AL MVP who had a breakout season with the Toronto Blue Jays, hitting 41 home runs and driving in 123 runs with a .297/.371/.568 batting line.

DeRosa remarked, “I see a swing that’s nasty. Does a lot of things right.” He encouraged viewers to watch Goodman’s technique, suggesting that it evokes memories of other great hitters. Without missing a beat, Casey responded, “Josh Donaldson,” highlighting the swift connection between Goodman’s style and that of the former MVP.

Continued Success and Recognition

Recently, Goodman hit his 30th home run of the season, a milestone that places him among the top catchers in the league, trailing only Cal Raleigh in home runs. His accomplishments have not only drawn praise from analysts but also positioned him as a contender for the Silver Slugger Award this year.

As Goodman continues to impress both fans and experts alike, the Rockies have a bright future ahead, bolstered by the talent and potential of their young star. With each game, he further solidifies his place in the conversation of the league’s elite, reminiscent of the prowess displayed by Josh Donaldson during his prime.
