The Cincinnati Reds have officially unveiled their roster for the upcoming Arizona Fall League, where a handful of promising prospects are set to showcase their skills. This year, Reds players will represent the Peoria Javelinas, and six standout talents have been selected to participate.
Alfredo Duno Leads the Charge
At the forefront is Alfredo Duno, the Reds’ third-ranked prospect. The young catcher has put together an impressive season, boasting a remarkable slash line of .287/.430/.518. Over the course of 113 games with Low-A Daytona, Duno has racked up 52 extra-base hits, showcasing his potential as a future star. As the Tortugas prepare for their first playoff game this Wednesday night, Duno’s performance will be closely watched as he looks to carry his success into the fall league.
Cam Collier’s Development Continues
Next up is Cam Collier, the Reds’ sixth-ranked prospect, who had his first taste of the Double-A level this season with Chattanooga. With a slash line of .253/.374/.324 and 15 extra-base hits in 70 games, Collier has split his time between first and third base, gaining valuable experience that will serve him well in the AFL.
Leo Balcazar’s Mid-Season Surge
Leo Balcazar, ranked 23rd among Reds prospects, has made significant strides this season, earning a promotion to Double-A Chattanooga midway through the year. The 21-year-old has posted a solid slash line of .259/.336/.381 while accumulating 33 extra-base hits across 122 games with both High-A Dayton and Chattanooga. His versatility and adaptability will be key as he joins the fall league.
Luke Hayden’s Rising Stock
Luke Hayden, the Reds’ 30th-ranked prospect, is another player to keep an eye on. The right-hander has demonstrated his skills on the mound with a 4.09 ERA over 24 starts for High-A Dayton. Selected in the eighth round of the 2024 MLB Draft, Hayden’s development will be critical as he gains exposure in the competitive environment of the AFL.
Trevor Kuncl’s Impressive Season
Trevor Kuncl, a graduate of St. Xavier High School, has also made waves this season. The reliever has been a standout at Double-A Chattanooga, notching 20 saves with a commendable 2.25 ERA across 30 appearances. His ability to perform under pressure will be a valuable asset as he competes in the Arizona Fall League.
Jonathan Harmon Rounding Out the Roster
Finally, Jonathan Harmon, selected by the Reds in the 13th round of the 2022 MLB Draft, rounds out the group. The right-handed pitcher has shown promise with a 3.45 ERA in 28 2/3 innings at High-A Dayton this season. His presence in the fall league will provide him with an opportunity to further develop his craft against some of the best young talent in baseball.
