Miguel Rojas expresses desire for Dodgers three-peat over big contract
Miguel Rojas etched his name into Dodgers lore with a pivotal moment in the World Series, delivering a game-tying home run in the top of the ninth inning of Game 7. Just days later, however, the infielder found himself navigating the waters of free agency. He’s not alone in this endeavor; fellow veteran Kiké Hernandez also seeks a new contract after contributing to the Dodgers’ recent success.
When asked about his future with the team, Rojas made his intentions clear. In a conversation with Dodgers Nation’s Doug McKain, he revealed his strong desire to return to Los Angeles. “I want to go back and play for the Dodgers, especially after what happened during the World Series,” he stated. “I think we deserve an opportunity to three-peat together. That’s something that I’m always going to say is my main motivation. It’s not about me getting money or getting the right deal or anything like that. It’s about keeping this core together for one more year and giving us an opportunity to three-peat.”
Rojas emphasized the importance of unity, expressing his hope to maintain the current roster. “I really love the opportunity we had to keep the same guys, bringing Kiké back, bringing [Teoscar Hernandez] back, bringing all the guys back for one year to go back-to-back. It was amazing. I think we deserve an opportunity to stay together.”
Since rejoining the Dodgers ahead of the 2023 season, Rojas has proven to be a reliable contributor, showcasing commendable defensive skills alongside a capable bat. Even after a challenging first year back with an OPS+ of 67, he rebounded in subsequent seasons, consistently performing at or above league average. His standout campaign came in 2024, where he recorded a .748 OPS, complemented by six home runs and 36 RBIs.
Defensively, Rojas has made a substantial impact, ranking in the top 10 percent of MLB for outs above average during all three seasons since his return. His fielding run value of plus-five places him among the top 20 percent of fielders, underscoring his importance in the infield.
While Rojas may not be the flashiest player on the roster, his blend of experience and skill makes him a valuable asset for the Dodgers as they consider their options for the 2026 season. With his heart set on a championship repeat, Rojas embodies the spirit of a team determined to build on its success.
