Dodgers’ fortunes may rise with Muncy and Vesia set to return as key players against Rockies

Dodgers look to regain momentum with Muncy and Vesia returning against Rockies

The Los Angeles Dodgers are poised for a potential turnaround as they look to capitalize on a recent victory against the Baltimore Orioles, snapping a discouraging five-game losing streak with a 5-2 win on Sunday. The team is set to welcome back two pivotal players this week, third baseman Max Muncy and left-handed reliever Alex Vesia, as they prepare for a crucial homestand against the Colorado Rockies.

Muncy’s return from injury

Max Muncy, 35, is expected to be activated off the injured list on Monday after being sidelined since August 15 due to an oblique strain. While the injury wasn’t as severe as the one he faced last season, his recovery faced delays as he battled an illness. Muncy’s return to the lineup is eagerly anticipated; he recently completed a three-game rehabilitation stint with the Triple-A Oklahoma City Comets, where he logged a modest 2-for-7 with two walks and a run scored.

In Muncy’s absence, utility players Miguel Rojas and Kiké Hernandez have been sharing the responsibilities at third base. However, Muncy’s return will not only solidify the hot corner but also provide the Dodgers with greater flexibility in their lineup, allowing them to optimize their bench options.

Vesia’s comeback adds depth to the bullpen

Alex Vesia, 29, has also been on the injured list since August 21 due to an oblique strain. His absence has been felt in the Dodgers’ bullpen, where his left-handed arm is crucial for matchups against opposing hitters. As Vesia prepares to make his comeback, the Dodgers will benefit from his versatility and ability to handle high-pressure situations.

The return of both Muncy and Vesia coincides with a pivotal moment in the Dodgers’ season. As they gear up for a brief yet important series against the Rockies, their reinforcements could be the spark the team needs to regain momentum as they strive for postseason positioning.

With the Dodgers back at home, the excitement surrounding Muncy and Vesia’s return is palpable. Their presence on the field could prove instrumental in shifting the team’s fortunes in the coming games.
