Dodgers’ bullpen woes deepen as Graterol sidelined for season leaving Miller as potential closing solution

Dodgers face deepening bullpen crisis with Graterol out for season

The Los Angeles Dodgers seized the momentum early against the Cincinnati Reds, jumping to a lead right from their first at-bat. For a majority of the game, it seemed the Dodgers were firmly in control. Yet, an all-too-familiar issue resurfaced: the bullpen’s struggle to maintain leads. This ongoing dilemma has haunted the team for an extended period.

The recent developments have cast a shadow over the Dodgers’ hopes. As noted by a local journalist, the belief in the bullpen’s recovering health may have been misplaced. Without a viable solution in sight, the idea of promoting Bobby Miller from Oklahoma City as a potential closer has emerged — a prospect that, while unconventional, is gaining traction among fans and analysts alike.

Injury woes pile on for the bullpen

The Dodgers’ relief corps has been beleaguered by a series of injuries, and the latest news only adds to their troubles. The team confirmed that Brusdar Graterol will not take the mound this season.

Graterol underwent surgery in the offseason to repair a labrum tear in his right shoulder. This significant procedure comes with an extensive recovery timeline, and he was already ruled out for action before the All-Star break. The decision to place him on the injured list in March didn’t come as a shock. Although he reported to the Dodgers’ Camelback Ranch in Arizona to begin his rehabilitation, manager Dave Roberts provided an update that the pitcher has yet to be cleared for a throwing program.

Future prospects in the bullpen

With Graterol sidelined, the Dodgers are left to navigate an uncertain landscape. Roberts expressed skepticism about Graterol’s ability to return in time for any meaningful contribution this season. As the team grapples with these challenges, the spotlight turns to Bobby Miller, whose potential ascent could provide a much-needed spark to a struggling bullpen.

The Dodgers now find themselves at a crucial juncture, where the resilience of their pitching staff will be tested. With key players out, the urgency for solutions becomes paramount. As the season progresses, the Dodgers will need to adapt quickly to maintain their competitive edge in the tightly contested National League.
