Cubs’ Stars Shine with All-MLB Nominations

Eight Chicago Cubs Nominated for All-MLB Teams

The Chicago Cubs have made a significant impact this season, as evidenced by the eight nominations for All-MLB honors. This recognition, initiated in 2019, celebrates outstanding performers across Major League Baseball, focusing solely on the regular season. It provides a platform for exceptional athletes who may have missed the playoffs, allowing their achievements to be acknowledged on a national scale.

The selection process involves nominating one player for each position—including first base, second base, designated hitter, shortstop, third base, and catcher, alongside five outfielders, five starting pitchers, and two relief pitchers. With Chicago’s recent success—posting their first 90+ win season since 2018 and securing a playoff berth for the first time since 2020—it’s no surprise the team has garnered this level of recognition.

A Talented Cubs Roster

This year’s roster showcases a remarkable blend of talent, particularly within the starting pitching and outfield categories, with two representatives nominated from each. Rookie sensation Cade Horton has emerged as a frontrunner in the rotation, boasting an impressive 2.67 ERA, the lowest for a Cubs rookie since 1943 (with a minimum of 115 innings pitched). With such a stellar performance, Horton is a strong candidate for the Rookie of the Year award.

Joining Horton is veteran Matthew Boyd, who has led the Cubs’ starters with 14 wins and 154 strikeouts, complementing his solid 3.21 ERA. The duo’s contributions have been vital to the Cubs’ success this season, showcasing the depth and capability of their pitching staff.

In the outfield, Pete Crow-Armstrong and Kyle Tucker have both made compelling cases for selection. PCA finished the season as one of the top performers among centerfielders, recording the second-most RBIs at his position and becoming one of only five centerfielders to hit over 30 home runs this year.

Key Offensive Players

On the offensive side, designated hitter Seiya Suzuki and first baseman Michael Busch have emerged as two of the Cubs’ most effective weapons. Both players have consistently delivered, ranking first and second on the team in home runs while contributing significantly in the RBI department. Their late-season performances have been instrumental in driving the Cubs’ success, and their nominations reflect their essential roles within the lineup.

As the Cubs prepare for their Wild Card Series against the San Diego Padres, the recognition of these eight players underscores the team’s overall achievement and the individual excellence displayed throughout the season. The All-MLB nominations are not just a testament to their talent but also a celebration of a team that has overcome challenges to reclaim its place in the postseason landscape.
