Cincinnati Reds Prospects Shine in Arizona Fall League

The Arizona Fall League has kicked off, and the Cincinnati Reds’ prospects are already making waves. Playing for the Peoria Javelinas, these young talents have jumped out to a strong start, boasting a 3-1 record in the early going.

Early Standouts

Among the most impressive performers is Alfredo Duno, who has made a notable impact in just two games. With a batting line of 2-for-6, he has also drawn four walks and driven in two runs. Duno expressed his competitive spirit, stating, “There’s respect for every pitcher, every pitcher who stands on the mound. But I always go out there to give it my best. I know I’m young. I know the guys are older than me, but I always go out there to compete. That’s my challenge.”

Another player to keep an eye on is Leo Balcazar, who has played three games and is hitting .333 with four hits in 12 at-bats, including a double, an RBI, and two stolen bases. His ability to contribute on the base paths adds another dimension to his performance.

Pitching Prospects

On the mound, Rhett Lowder has shown promise, striking out two batters in his two innings of work while delivering an impressive 21 of his 23 pitches for strikes. He noted, “I kind of just wanted to come in and fill it up and just kind of just get back out there and get my feet under me. I didn’t try to look too much into any reports or anything.”

Cam Collier, a key prospect in the Reds’ system, has also demonstrated his potential by going 3-for-11 with three RBIs and four walks. His contributions have been vital to the team’s success thus far.

Other Notable Performances

Jonathan Harmon took the mound for one game, allowing two runs on three hits over two innings, while striking out three and walking two. Luke Hayden faced a challenging outing, giving up a run on two hits and a walk in his single inning of work. In a critical moment, Trevor Kuncl earned a save, allowing just one run while striking out two and walking two in his appearance.

As the Arizona Fall League progresses, the Cincinnati Reds’ prospects are providing a glimpse into the future of the franchise. With their combination of talent and determination, these young players are poised to make significant contributions in the seasons to come.
