Braves blaze through final stretch hoping to give Snitker a grand farewell with historic winning streak

Braves Aim for Historic Streak to Honor Snitker’s Tenure

As the Atlanta Braves approach the final week of the regular season, there’s an air of uncertainty surrounding the future of manager Brian Snitker. With whispers of his impending departure growing louder, the Braves are eager to send him off with a flourish. While no official announcement has been made about Snitker’s future, the signs are increasingly suggestive of a farewell.

The team’s recent performance, characterized by a notable consistency, could typically afford Snitker a “mulligan” year. Yet, as one analyst pointed out, transitioning from being a favorite for the World Series to being a contender for the draft lottery constitutes a significant setback. At 69 years old, Snitker stands as the oldest manager in the National League, and with his contract ending this season, retirement seems likely.

Morton Returns to Finish the Season

In a bid to bolster their roster for this crucial stretch, the Braves announced the return of veteran pitcher Charlie Morton. The 41-year-old right-hander has rejoined the team, as confirmed by Snitker in a press conference. However, the manager noted that it remains uncertain whether Morton will take the mound during the team’s final six games.

Historical Dominance on Display

Monday night marked a historic achievement for the Braves, as they etched their name into the MLB record books. Over their last nine games, the Braves have not only maintained an unblemished record but have done so without committing a single error. Remarkably, they have scored no fewer than five runs in each game while keeping their opponents to five runs or less. This feat is unprecedented in MLB history for a nine-game stretch.

A Late-Season Surge

This version of the Braves reflects the expectations many had at the start of the season—a powerful and cohesive unit. Unfortunately, such dominance has been sporadic throughout the year, with this late-season surge coming as a welcome surprise. The Braves’ recent success serves as a glimmer of hope, suggesting that while the current season may have its disappointments, the groundwork is being laid for a more promising future. With the playoffs on the horizon, Atlanta is determined to carry this momentum into next year, aiming to honor Snitker’s legacy with a memorable conclusion to his time at the helm.
