VW ID.7 GTX: Big Announcement and Pricing Revealed
Volkswagen has made a major announcement regarding its latest models, the VW ID.7 GTX and the ID.7 GTX Tourer. The German car manufacturer has not only revealed the specifications of these vehicles but also their costs. In the UK, the VW ID.7 GTX starts at £61,980 ($79,680), while the ID.7 GTX Tourer has a starting price of £62,670 ($80,565). These prices include VAT and are recommended retail prices on-the-road.
Both the VW ID.7 GTX and the ID.7 GTX Tourer come with an 86 kWh battery pack, similar to the Pro S Match grade. However, what sets the GTX models apart is the additional front motor, which increases the combined output by 53 hp (54 ps/40 kW) to a total of 335 hp (340 ps/250 kW). The VW ID.7 GTX Sedan can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 kph) in just 5.4 seconds, while the VW ID.7 GTX Tourer takes a tenth of a second longer.
Volkswagen claims that the battery of the VW ID.7 GTX can be recharged from 10 to 80 percent in just 26 minutes. However, this requires a 200 kW connection. With a fully charged battery, the VW ID.7 GTX Sedan offers a driving range of 366 miles (589 km), while the ID.7 GTX Tourer can go up to 359 miles (578 km). The Tourer model also provides ample luggage space with 21.4 cu-ft (605 liters), surpassing the latest BMW 5 Series Touring executive estate.
In terms of design, the VW ID.7 GTX stands out with its sportier exterior styling and 20-inch Skagen alloy wheels. It features IQ.Light LED matrix headlights with illuminated corporate logos, exclusive GTX daytime running lights, and DCC adaptive chassis control with driving profile selection. Inside, the vehicle is equipped with Harman Kardon audio, ventilated and heated seats, heated rear seats, augmented reality head-up display, and a voice assistant with integrated ChatGPT.
Interested buyers can personalize their VW ID.7 GTX with various optional extras, including the Park Assist Pro. This feature allows users to control parking procedures using their smartphones. When it comes to pricing, the VW ID.7 GTX is priced higher than the Pro Match variant, which starts at £51,550 ($66,270), and the Pro S Match, which can be ordered from £55,450 ($71,285). The Pro Match has a driving range of 381 miles (613 km), while the Pro S Match can go up to 436 miles (702 km). Both variants take around 6.5 to 6.6 seconds to reach 62 mph.
