Marc Márquez joined Gresini in MotoGP this year after enduring several challenging seasons. The «calvary» that began with his serious injury in 2020 continued through 2023, compounded by other injuries and Honda’s poor performance.
The rider made the move to a satellite team with a clear mission: to rediscover his good feelings on the bike, prove that he could still be competitive, and fight for top results.
And he succeeded. Márquez finished the championship in third place and secured three victories, becoming the main rival to the two dominant riders of the season — champion Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati) and Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati).
The eight-time world champion, quoted by the newspaper Marca, emphasized that 2024 was a year of achievements despite not claiming a title — neither the overall championship nor the independent rider crown:
– I told Gresini this: We didn’t win a title, but we gained so much more this year. I managed to find myself again and extend my sporting career. I had ghosts in my head, doubts that were resolved in a very good way. I will try to continue with this happiness because when you are happy, you’re fast.
