Ochocinco’s Unbelievable Injury “Treatment”
NFL icon Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson has shocked fans by confirming a jaw-dropping method he used to avoid injuries during his legendary career: soaking his ankle in urine. Appearing on the 7PM in Brooklyn podcast, Johnson detailed the unconventional practice, which he first mentioned in 2016 but has now verified as true.
“I’d collect warm urine from my teammates, heat it up, and soak my ankle for 30 minutes. Yeah, it worked,” Johnson said.
How It Worked
Johnson revealed his method for collecting the “treatment”:
“Before team meetings, I’d tell the guys, ‘Drink water at the same time. After the meeting, there’s a bucket in the bathroom. Pee in it for me.’”
Despite its unorthodox nature, Johnson credits the tactic with keeping him off the injured list during his 11-year NFL career, 10 of which were spent with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Teammates Played Along
Surprisingly, Johnson’s teammates didn’t object to his strange request:
“They had no problem helping out. It became part of the routine,” he joked.
Medical professionals, however, would likely cringe at the thought, as there’s no scientific evidence to suggest urine has healing properties for sprains or injuries.
A Legendary Career, Quirks and All
Regardless of his unusual methods, Johnson remains one of the top wide receivers of the 21st century. His achievements include:
- NFL Career Stats: 766 receptions, 11,059 yards, 67 touchdowns.
- Teams: 10 seasons with the Bengals, 1 with the Patriots.
- CFL Stint: Played for the Montreal Alouettes in 2014.
Fan Reactions
Fans are divided between admiration for Johnson’s commitment to staying healthy and disbelief at the lengths he went to:
- “This is the most Ochocinco thing ever!”
- “I can’t believe this worked… or that his teammates went along with it.”
