For the first time in his career, Maverick Viñales will compete in MotoGP with a team that is not a factory team. After Suzuki, Yamaha, and Aprilia, in 2025 he will be with KTM Tech3.
Hervé Poncharal’s team is independent by regulation, but it receives support from KTM, making it almost like a second factory team – with its own structure and a different garage.
Viñales’ first contact with the team was during the Barcelona test. When asked if he felt any difference working with a non-factory team, the Spaniard replied:
– No. It was a very smooth test. I had a good feeling with the atmosphere. I think, and I believe, we can create a really strong group, to be honest. But, to be honest, this is a little family, it was what I felt with the mechanics, between them. So, probably, that’s the feeling I need, it’s fantastic.
