The U.S. Navy has confirmed the loss of two exceptional aviators, Lt. Cmdr. Lyndsay “Miley” Evans and Lt. Serena “Dug” Wileman, following the tragic crash of their EA-18G Growler near Mount Rainier on Oct. 15, 2024. Both women were part of the elite VAQ-130 “Zappers” squadron, returning from a nine-month deployment aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, where they distinguished themselves in numerous combat missions over Yemen.
Evans, a decorated Growler Tactics Instructor, and Wileman, a rising star known for her infectious positivity and leadership, exemplified dedication, courage, and innovation in Naval Aviation. Their heroic efforts during operations in the Red Sea and their pioneering roles in electronic warfare earned them respect and admiration, leaving behind an inspiring legacy for future generations of aviators.
