Former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler has gone from making headlines on the field to stirring up trouble off it. The 41-year-old ex-Chicago Bears star was arrested in Franklin, Tennessee, after what can only be described as one chaotic night. Cutler was pulled over by police after a minor car accident, where he allegedly rear-ended another vehicle. What they found next could only be described as a recipe for disaster: Cutler, allegedly intoxicated, had two firearms in the car – and one was fully loaded.
In a scene straight out of a bad movie, police reported Cutler had bloodshot eyes, smelled like alcohol, and was about as cooperative as an NFL player in a referee’s face after a bad call. He flat-out refused to take a field sobriety test, leaving officers no choice but to obtain a blood sample through a search warrant. Now that’s one way to show you’re still tough, Jay!
If you’re keeping score, Cutler racked up charges for DUI, failure to exercise due care, and violation of implied consent laws. And as if things couldn’t get more embarrassing, his mugshot made the rounds, showing him looking scruffy and far removed from his football glory days. Who would’ve thought that the man who once led the Bears would end up posting a $5,000 bond to get out of jail?
Of course, Cutler’s personal life has been quite the rollercoaster too. He was married to reality TV star Kristen Cavallari for nearly a decade before their high-profile divorce in 2022. The couple shared the screen on E!’s Very Cavallari, giving fans a glimpse into their Nashville life with their three children: Camden (11), Jaxon (9), and Saylor (8). Now, with Cavallari recently tweaking their custody agreement to spend more time with the kids, she’s probably glad she wasn’t in that car.
But wait, there’s more. Cutler has been dating Samantha Robertson, with the couple going public in September 2023. Meanwhile, Cavallari’s brief romance with TikTok star Mark Estes fizzled out, with the age gap becoming a deal-breaker. Maybe Kristen’s content being a “homebody” now, but Cutler? Looks like he’s still chasing some kind of action.
As for the arrest, the Franklin Police Department hasn’t released many more details, but it doesn’t take a crystal ball to see that Cutler’s day in court won’t be a winning one.
