Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone didn’t hold back after his team’s preseason woes continued with a 94-124 blowout loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. The 2023 NBA Champions, riding high off last year’s title, have now dropped four straight preseason games, leaving Malone visibly frustrated. Speaking to reporters, the 53-year-old coach expressed his concerns: “I mentioned pregame that my biggest concerns: Can we take care of the ball and keep them out of transition? And we failed miserably in that regard.”
Malone also hinted at a lack of drive in his players, observing that the team seemed to lack the “sense of revenge” they’d need to defend their title. With the regular season just around the corner, the Nuggets will need to regroup fast to maintain their championship status. For now, the pressure is mounting on Malone and his team to recapture last season’s grit and focus as they prepare for their title defense.
