BIG SEASON AHEAD FOR HAAS F1 TEAM: VF-24 UNVEILED
In a season filled with major changes, the Haas Formula 1 team is gearing up for a pivotal year with the release of their new car, the VF-24. Owner Gene Haas has set high expectations for better results without increasing the budget. However, achieving this goal may prove to be difficult, as the outgoing management structure may have hindered the technical side and its development. Only time will tell if these changes will lead to success, but for now, the team is keeping their expectations low.
The performance of Haas will be closely monitored early in the season, largely based on the performance of the VF-24. With a series of management changes, it is unclear whether the team has made significant progress or simply maintained the status quo during the winter break. The release of 10 renders provides some insight into the new car, although certain details are intentionally concealed or left unclear. A more definitive analysis will have to wait until the car’s shakedown debut on February 11 and subsequent testing.
While some aspects of the car remain similar to previous models, there are notable changes worth mentioning. Haas has retained the pushrod front suspension and appears to have incorporated anti-dive on the front suspension assembly. The sidepod design has been influenced by the 2023 Red Bull concept, with a shallower radiator intake to improve the performance of the front corner of the floor. The outer edge of the underfloor remains hidden, making it difficult to assess its features. The radiator inlet design optimizes flow lines over the sidepods and reduces the influence of radiator spillage on aerodynamic performance.
To compensate for the reduced sidepod cooling inlet, Haas has added additional cooling inlets on the sides of the structural rollover bar. This area plays a crucial role in the car’s performance. The rear beam wing has also been redesigned to improve the performance of the diffuser. Additionally, the positioning of the upper wishbone and gearbox suggests the presence of anti-lift on the rear suspension, reducing vertical movement during braking.
Overall, the initial renders of the VF-24 indicate that Haas has made some improvements while following the trends set by Red Bull and McLaren in previous seasons. As the car hits the track and undergoes further analysis, we will gain a more detailed understanding of Haas’ approach for the upcoming season.
