German driver Tim Tramnitz will participate in the FIA Formula E rookie tests for ABT Cupra in Misano and Berlin. This news comes as the team faces the possible departure of Nico Müller to Tag Heuer Porsche. Tramnitz, currently in sixth place in the FIA F3 standings and a member of the Red Bull Junior Team, will have the opportunity to test the track during the FP0 session before the Misano E-Prix and the rookie test after the Berlin E-Prix.
Tramnitz expressed his excitement in joining the ABT team and participating in the Formula E test. He enjoyed his experience last year and is looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of a race car. He particularly enjoys working with engineers and analyzing data, as it provides a more comprehensive learning experience compared to Formula 3. Tramnitz sees this as an opportunity to learn and grow as a driver.
The Race recently reported that Müller, current ABT driver, tested for Porsche between the races in Diriyah and São Paulo earlier this year. It is believed that Müller’s contract is coming to an end this season, making a possible move to Porsche highly likely. While championship leader Pascal Wehrlein is reportedly committed to a long-term contract, there is a possibility that Antonio Felix da Costa is at risk. This would be a major setback for the Portuguese driver, who chose to prioritize his commitments to FE with the team instead of returning to WEC this season at Porsche’s request.
