The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has confirmed the recovery of Brigadier General Abbas Nilforoushan’s body following Israeli airstrikes on Beirut on September 27. Nilforoushan, a high-ranking IRGC commander, was reportedly killed in the strike alongside Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. The attack also resulted in the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
The targeted killings of these prominent figures are seen as having directly triggered Iran’s swift response. On October 1, Iran launched an intense retaliatory assault, firing nearly 200 ballistic missiles at Israel. The escalated violence underscores the heightened tensions and rapidly unfolding conflict in the region.
