David Alonso’s victorious streak in Moto3 continues. This Sunday, the rider achieved his third consecutive win, this time at the Italian GP in Mugello, in a race that proved challenging to manage and was even interrupted at one point.
Alonso (CFMoto Valresa Aspar) had a strong start, maintaining his lead from pole position. Ivan OrtolĂĄ (MT Helmets-MSi/KTM) closely followed him, while Taiyo Furusato (Honda Team Asia) also had a good start, moving up to third.
The Japanese rider, Furusato, eventually lost his position to Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) on the third lap. Despite the tight distance, Alonso kept his lead ahead of OrtolĂĄ. However, it was Veijer who overtook OrtolĂĄ on the fourth lap to move into second place. Shortly after, a red flag was waved due to an accident at turn nine, where one of the involved riders, Xabi Zurutuza (Red Bull KTM Ajo), needed assistance at the crash site.
After a brief pause, the race resumed with 11 laps, and the starting grid reflected the standings at the end of the third lap, with David Alonso on pole position. At the restart, the Colombian got off to a strong start, maintaining his lead while Collin Veijer overtook Ivan OrtolĂĄ.
In the first corner, a crash occurred involving José Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo), Daniel Holgado (Red Bull GasGas Tech3), and Stefano Nepa (LevelUp MTA/KTM), forcing the Italian rider to retire from the race. Shortly after, Tatsuki Suzuki (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) also crashed. Meanwhile, Ortolå regained second place.

However, at the start of the second lap of this restart, Collin Veijer and Taiyo Furusato used the slipstream on Mugello’s main straight to move into first and second place, respectively, with David Alonso dropping to third. During the same lap, Furusato briefly took the lead.
Alonso reclaimed the lead on the following lap. The leading group comprised six riders, with constant battles, position changes, and much uncertainty.

In the final laps, Alonso managed to build a more solid lead, but Veijer didn’t give up. OrtolĂĄ was in third, Ryusei Yamanaka (MT Helmets-MSi/KTM) was fourth, Furusato fifth, and David Muñoz (BOE Motorsports/KTM) sixth.
Despite a final push from Veijer, Alonso secured another victory, winning by just 0.142s. Yamanaka completed the podium, inheriting third place after Ortolå crashed at Turn 12 on the last lap. Furusato and Muñoz rounded out the top five. Holgado was penalized with two Long Lap penalties due to the incident at the race restart, but he still managed to score two points by finishing in 14th place.
