Austin Dillon suffered another setback in New Hampshire.
Richard Childress Racing had high hopes for the 2023 season, aiming to return to previous success. They made progress on the track until mid-last year, with the experienced driver securing three wins. However, since then, it has been a series of disasters for the team, with each race proving worse than the previous one.
While the veteran driver managed to overcome some challenges and achieve some solid performances, his teammate was not as lucky. Since the 2022 Daytona Coke 400, he has failed to win a single race. The 2024 season has been even tougher for the No:3 Chevy team, with only four top-20 finishes so far.

Dillon’s race in New Hampshire this week ended in immense disappointment as he was involved in a late-race accident, resulting in a Did Not Finish (DNF). Reflecting on the result, Dillon acknowledged that his luck has been extraordinarily bad this season. He mentioned starting the race with an imbalanced car and getting caught up in someone else’s mess after they fixed the car.
Before the accident ruined his chances, Dillon was confident he could achieve a favorable result as the race progressed and the car improved. He remains optimistic that they can bounce back in Nashville next weekend.
It would be a major setback for Dillon as a driver if he fails to achieve some strong results before the end of the 2024 season. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the year unfolds for him and if RCR will consider making driver changes for 2025.
