Fantasy football panic or patience: DJ Moore, Cooper Kupp, Rashee Rice, and Malik Nabers under the microscope

Fantasy Football: To Panic or to Be Patient

As the fourth week of the NFL season wraps up, fantasy football managers find themselves at a crossroads. Is it time to hit the panic button, or should they take a moment to breathe and assess the landscape? With the season still unfolding, the sample sizes for performance are growing, making some decisions clearer than others. This week, we focus on four wide receivers: DJ Moore, Cooper Kupp, Rashee Rice, and Malik Nabers.

DJ Moore: A Must-Have Despite Struggles

The Chicago Bears’ offense has not lived up to the excitement many anticipated under the leadership of Ben Johnson. Still, dropping DJ Moore is simply not an option. Despite the struggles, he remains a top wide receiver. The Bears have been creative in their efforts to get him the ball, even utilizing him out of the backfield. If this offense finds its rhythm, Moore will undoubtedly be instrumental to its success. While Rome Odunze has been impressive early on, that does not diminish Moore’s value in any way.

Cooper Kupp: The Case for Caution

Dropping Cooper Kupp is a valid consideration, but only if a viable waiver wire option is available. His target numbers—3, 9, 3, and 5—over the first four weeks raise concerns about his ability to make a significant impact. While he still holds some potential for PPR formats, Kupp lacks the big-play explosiveness that fantasy managers crave. If you choose to let him go, you likely won’t regret it, but he provides just enough consistency to justify holding onto him for the time being.

Rashee Rice: Patience Pays Off

For those who have Rashee Rice on their roster, patience is key. The young receiver is currently serving a six-game suspension, with two more games left before he can return in Week 7. After waiting this long, it would be unwise to drop him now. When Rice returns, he is expected to become one of Patrick Mahomes’ primary targets, making him a valuable asset as the season progresses. In fact, it might be worth checking your league to see if Rice is still available, as he could be a game-changer upon his return.

Malik Nabers: Time to Move On

Unfortunately, the news is not as promising for Malik Nabers. Reports indicate that he sustained a torn ACL in his knee during Sunday’s game, which will effectively end his season. If you’re in a standard league, it’s prudent to drop Nabers. However, in a keeper league, you should hold onto him, as he possesses significant long-term potential as a wide receiver.

Navigating the Fantasy Landscape

As the season continues to evolve, fantasy managers must remain vigilant, weighing each player’s performance against their potential. With some players like DJ Moore and Rashee Rice holding steady value, while others like Cooper Kupp and Malik Nabers present more complicated decisions, the path forward requires careful consideration. Each week brings new developments, and staying informed is crucial in the quest for fantasy success.
