Ducks Invest in Future with Mason McTavish Contract

The Anaheim Ducks have made a significant move to secure their future by extending Mason McTavish to a six-year contract worth $7 million, as reported by insider Elliotte Friedman. The 22-year-old forward was among the most prominent restricted free agents still without a deal, leaving New Jersey’s Luke Hughes as the next major player to sign.

McTavish’s Impressive Track Record

Last season, McTavish showcased his skills by tallying 22 goals and 30 assists, totaling 52 points over 76 games. Since joining the Ducks, he has made a notable impact, accumulating 60 goals and 80 assists for 140 points in 229 games across three seasons. His performance has solidified his role as a vital contributor to the team.

What This Means for Anaheim

This contract extension is a crucial victory for the Ducks and General Manager Pat Verbeek, especially as McTavish has been absent from training camp and preseason games during the negotiation process. With the deal now finalized, he can rejoin the team and prepare for a pivotal season, one that carries heightened expectations under the leadership of new head coach Joel Quenneville, a Stanley Cup champion.

Building a Young Core

By locking down McTavish, Anaheim is not only securing their power forward of the future but also reinforcing their emerging young core. He is expected to complement fellow forwards Leo Carlsson, Cutter Gauthier, and Troy Terry, creating a formidable front line. Additionally, the Ducks have promising prospects like Roger McQueen on the horizon, further enhancing their offensive potential.

Looking Ahead to a Promising Season

The Ducks are poised to be an exciting team this season, aiming to make a significant leap forward and return to playoff contention. With McTavish playing a key role in their strategy, the anticipation is building for what lies ahead in Anaheim.
