Thunder Bolster Roster with Branden Carlson’s Two-Way Deal

The Oklahoma City Thunder made a strategic move on Friday, officially signing Branden Carlson to a two-way contract. This decision comes as the team looks to shore up its roster, particularly in light of ongoing injury concerns at the center position.

Navigating Injury Challenges

Carlson’s return to the Thunder is especially significant given the team’s recent struggles with depth in the frontcourt. Last season, he joined Oklahoma City during a challenging period when Chet Holmgren was sidelined due to a hip injury, and Isaiah Hartenstein was recovering from a fractured left hand. The Thunder found themselves in a precarious situation, facing a dearth of available centers.

Current Roster Dynamics

As it stands, the Thunder’s roster features Brooks Barnhizer, their second-round pick from this year’s draft, occupying one of the two available two-way slots. The other two-way position remains open as the team approaches training camp, leaving room for potential further additions.

Carlson’s role will be critical as the Thunder prepare for the upcoming season, particularly as they seek to solidify their frontcourt lineup. His previous experience with the team and understanding of the system could prove invaluable as the Thunder navigate a demanding schedule ahead.

With Carlson back in the fold, Oklahoma City is hoping to enhance its depth and resilience as they aim for a competitive season in the NBA.
