Seahawks target Ohio State’s Carnell Tate in 2026 NFL mock draft

The Seattle Seahawks are eyeing another standout wide receiver from Ohio State in the upcoming 2026 NFL mock draft. As they look to bolster their receiving corps, Carnell Tate has emerged as a tantalizing option.

Receiver Concerns Loom

Heading into the current season, the Seahawks faced uncertainty regarding their wide receiver group, especially after trading away DK Metcalf and parting ways with Tyler Lockett. However, Jaxon Smith-Njigba has quickly alleviated some of those concerns. The second-year player has made a significant impact, amassing 323 yards and a touchdown on 22 receptions through the first three games. Notably, he has eclipsed the 100-yard mark twice, with his only sub-par outing yielding 96 yards in a convincing victory against the New Orleans Saints.

Emerging Talent

Seattle has a strong track record when it comes to drafting wide receivers. Rookie Tort Horton has already made his mark, scoring two touchdowns in his first three appearances, solidifying his position as a reliable WR3. Nonetheless, the Seahawks are in search of a younger WR2 to complement their offensive scheme, especially to replace Cooper Kupp. This need is precisely what CBS Sports’ Mike Renner addresses in his 2026 NFL mock draft.

A Bold Selection

In his latest projections, Renner has the Seahawks selecting Carnell Tate with their first pick, the 14th overall. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound wideout has been a key contributor for the Buckeyes, stepping up in the absence of Emeka Egbuka. So far this season, Tate has caught 12 of 14 targets, racking up 219 yards and three touchdowns across three games. His vertical ability is something that the Seahawks’ offense has been lacking, making him a perfect fit for their future plans.

Seattle’s Surprising Start

The Seahawks have surprised many by jumping out to a 2-1 start this season. Under the guidance of head coach Mike Macdonald, they have shown promise on both sides of the ball. If they secure Tate in the draft, the offense could become even more formidable, posing a significant challenge to opposing defenses.

Looking Ahead

As the season progresses, the Seahawks will continue to evaluate their roster and potential draft choices. With the addition of a player like Carnell Tate, they might just enhance their offensive capabilities and solidify their position as contenders in the league.
