Texans endure rocky start as C.J. Stroud falters behind struggling offensive line

Houston, we have a problem. The Texans’ offense is in dire straits, with quarterback C.J. Stroud and his teammates grappling to find their rhythm through the opening three weeks of the season. Now sitting at 0-3, this start is far from what anyone expected for a team seeking to turn the corner.

Offensive Struggles Mount

The numbers tell a bleak story — just 38 points scored across three games. NFL analyst Judy Battista notes that the revamped offensive line and new offensive coordinator have yet to yield positive results. Last Sunday, the Texans managed a mere 119 total yards through three quarters. They remained competitive only because the Jaguars were equally ineffective. However, the fourth quarter proved disastrous for Stroud, who threw two interceptions, while receiver Nico Collins fumbled. With the running game virtually nonexistent, the Texans, currently ranked last in scoring, are unable to maintain any momentum on drives.

Protection Issues Plague Stroud

Stroud’s struggles are compounded by the inability of his offensive line to provide protection. The pressure seems to weigh heavily on him, as he plays without the assurance that he’ll have time to find an open receiver. Aside from a 50-yard touchdown pass to Collins late in the game, Stroud has faced a barrage of challenges that have stifled his performance this season.

A Slow Start for the Second-Year Quarterback

After a promising rookie season, Stroud appeared to be on the brink of a breakout in his second year. However, the current campaign has instead resembled a sophomore slump. Expectations were high for a return to form, but so far, the results have been disappointing.

Despite the grim outlook, the Texans and Stroud are committed to a long-term partnership. As the season unfolds, there is hope for improvement. Yet, without swift adjustments, the prospects of further struggles loom large in Houston.
