Eagles soar to 2-0 after taming the Chiefs
The Philadelphia Eagles have kicked off their season with a perfect 2-0 record, following a hard-fought victory against the Kansas City Chiefs on the road. After starting their campaign with a win over NFC East rivals, the Dallas Cowboys, the Eagles faced a whirlwind of controversy right from the outset.
Jalen Carter’s Rocky Start
In that opening game against Dallas, defensive tackle Jalen Carter made headlines for all the wrong reasons when he was ejected for spitting on Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, just moments into the season. This incident cast a shadow over his debut, but Carter bounced back in the matchup against Kansas City, showcasing his resilience.
During the game on Sunday, Carter recorded two tackles and applied pressure on Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes four times. While his performance was a positive sign, Carter is still working to regain his peak form. Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio emphasized the need for Carter to improve his conditioning. “I think he needs to round into better shape,” Fangio noted. “Both he and I have talked about that. He readily admits that, and I think we’ll get more from him as the season progresses.”
Looking Ahead to the Rams
The Eagles are set to face another significant challenge when they take on the Los Angeles Rams this coming Sunday. This matchup is particularly intriguing as it serves as a rematch of their divisional round clash from last January. Both teams will be vying for a chance to improve to 3-0, a record that could play a crucial role in playoff seeding as the season unfolds.
As the Eagles continue their journey, all eyes will be on Carter, as he works to solidify his role on the team and contribute to their success moving forward.
