Rhett Lowder Makes Impressive Rehab Start for Reds

Rhett Lowder is back, and the Cincinnati Reds are certainly glad to have him. The highly-touted second-ranked prospect made a triumphant return to the mound on Saturday, taking the field for a rehab start with Triple-A Louisville against the Toledo Mudhens.

Dominant Performance After Injury Struggles

After a lengthy absence due to injury, Lowder’s performance was a breath of fresh air for Reds fans and the organization alike. He hadn’t seen game action since May 22, but he wasted no time in shaking off the rust. Over the course of two innings, Lowder delivered a stellar showing, allowing no runs and limiting the Mudhens to just two hits.

His command was impressive; he recorded two strikeouts while throwing 25 strikes out of a total of 34 pitches. This performance echoes the promise he has shown throughout his career. Last season, he made a name for himself with a 2-2 record and an astonishing 1.17 ERA across six starts after being called up to the Reds on August 30, 2024.

A Bright Future Ahead

Lowder’s return marks a significant milestone in his journey back to full health. After experiencing multiple injuries, including a lengthy rehabilitation process, his performance against Toledo serves as a hopeful sign for the Reds as they look to bolster their pitching rotation in the closing weeks of the season.

As he continues to regain form, fans will be watching closely to see how Lowder’s journey unfolds. If this outing is any indication, the Reds may soon have their promising young pitcher back in the big leagues, ready to make an impact once again.
