Bills face injury woes ahead of crucial Jets matchup

The Buffalo Bills, fresh off an exhilarating victory, are now grappling with a wave of injuries as they prepare for their Week 2 clash against the New York Jets. The team’s initial injury report, released Wednesday, paints a concerning picture for the Bills’ roster.

Key Players Limited in Practice

Among the most notable names on the report is running back James Cook, who was limited in practice due to a hamstring issue. In the thrilling 41-40 win over the Baltimore Ravens, Cook played a significant role, logging 48 snaps and rushing 13 times for 44 yards and a touchdown, while also catching five passes for 58 yards.

Adding to the list of concerns, tight end Dawson Knox also appeared as a new addition, dealing with a hip injury that kept him limited during practice.

Defensive Concerns Mount

The defensive side of the ball is not immune to injury, with defensive end Greg Rousseau also limited due to a knee issue. However, the most alarming update came regarding nickelback Taron Johnson, who did not participate at all in practice due to a quad injury.

Linebacker Shaq Thompson was another absentee from practice, listed as DNP (did not participate) with injuries to both his hamstring and hand.

Mixed News on Other Injuries

The Bills also reported limited participation from return man Brandon Codrington, who is nursing a knee injury, as well as cornerback Tre’Davious White, who has been dealing with a groin issue. The latter’s participation is encouraging, particularly after he missed the first week of the season.

On a more positive note, Buffalo listed Christian Benford and Keon Coleman, both dealing with groin injuries, but both managed to participate fully in practice.

Upcoming Showdown with the Jets

As the Bills aim to build on their thrilling victory against Baltimore, they will take the field at 1 p.m. Sunday against the Jets. The hope is that the team can rally and improve their health ahead of this crucial matchup, providing them with the best chance to continue their winning momentum.
