Vikings face Bears without star tackle Darrisaw as Soldier Field conditions raise concern

Vikings without Darrisaw as Bears Face Missing Players

The Minnesota Vikings will face the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football without their star left tackle, Christian Darrisaw, who has been officially ruled inactive due to a knee injury. Darrisaw, who has been recovering from a significant knee injury for the past 10.5 months, practiced last week and was considered close to returning. However, the decision was made to hold him out for at least another week.

Concerns over Playing Surface

There are suggestions that the decision to keep Darrisaw sidelined may relate to concerns regarding the playing surface at Soldier Field. Historically, the field has faced scrutiny for its conditions, which could potentially aggravate existing injuries. The Vikings will likely turn to veteran Justin Skule to fill the left tackle position in Darrisaw’s absence.

Additional Inactives for the Vikings

Joining Darrisaw on the inactive list is safety Harrison Smith, who was ruled out after missing several weeks of practice due to a personal health matter categorized as an illness on the injury report. Although he returned to practice last week, Smith did not travel to Chicago and will miss this crucial matchup. His absence will require the Vikings to rely more heavily on safeties Tavierre Thomas and Jay Ward, alongside starters Josh Metellus and Theo Jackson.

The Full List of Inactives

As the Vikings prepare for the game, the following players have been confirmed as inactive:

Christian Darrisaw (LT)
Harrison Smith (S)
[Other inactives, if applicable]

This matchup will not only test the depth of the Vikings’ roster but also set the stage for intriguing tactical adjustments on both sides as they navigate the conditions at Soldier Field.
