Mets Adjust Catcher Roster as Alvarez Returns and Torrens Heads to IL

The New York Mets are making yet another adjustment to their catching lineup. Following a 17-game absence due to a thumb sprain, Francisco Alvarez has been activated from the injured list. The young catcher’s return is a welcome boost for the team, bringing back his offensive prowess and defensive skills just in time.

In Alvarez’s absence, Luis Torrens stepped up to fill the role behind the plate. However, the Mets’ catching depth has taken a hit, as Torrens is now sidelined himself. The team has placed him on the 10-day injured list due to a right forearm contusion, as reported by SNY Mets. Torrens’ injury underscores the ongoing challenges the Mets face in maintaining a stable roster amid a season filled with ups and downs.

To fill the void left by Torrens, the Mets have recalled rookie catcher Hayden Senger for his fourth stint with the team this season. Senger’s familiarity with the club will be crucial as the team navigates this transition. His ability to step in during crucial moments could provide the Mets with the depth they need as they continue their campaign.

With Alvarez back in action and Senger ready to support, the Mets are hoping to stabilize their catching situation as they look to build momentum in the season ahead.
