Noah Davis cut again as ERA remains historically high despite brief stint with Twins

Noah Davis Cut Again Amidst Record High ERA

Noah Davis, the former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher, finds himself once again on the wrong side of roster decisions as the Minnesota Twins have designated him for assignment. This comes after a brief and tumultuous stint with the team that did little to remedy his historically high earned run average (ERA).

Struggles in Los Angeles

Davis was initially let go by the Dodgers back in July after a disastrous outing where he surrendered 10 runs over just 1.1 innings against the Houston Astros. At that point, his ERA ballooned to an alarming 19.50 across five appearances. It was a performance that left the Dodgers with little choice but to part ways with the right-hander on July 11.

A Brief Resurgence with the Twins

Just days after his departure from Los Angeles, the Twins acquired Davis, perhaps believing that his numbers could only improve. In Minnesota, Davis did manage to lower his ERA slightly, allowing nine earned runs in five innings, bringing his ERA down to 18.00. However, this still places him among the highest ERA records in the history of Major League Baseball, a statistic that is hard to overlook.

Final Cut

On September 5, the Twins made the decision to outright Davis off their 40-man roster. This move was necessary to activate pitcher Pablo Lopez from the injured list, marking yet another chapter in what has been a challenging season for Davis. The transition from the Dodgers to the Twins has not brought the turnaround he might have hoped for, leaving many to wonder about the future of this once-promising talent.
